Longstowe Hall gives a wedding day room to breathe, and that is exactly what I need to work well.
Prep happens in the cottage on site, close enough to the ceremony that nobody is rushed getting there. That short walk between the two is one of my favourite parts of the day here. It is quiet, unhurried, and it usually produces images nobody was expecting.
The grounds do a lot of the work for me. A tree-lined avenue for portraits, the ancient rose gardens with some of the best views on the whole estate, and a lake with its own pavilion island, complete with resident swans, for couples who want their ceremony outdoors. I rarely have to manufacture a moment at Longstowe. I just need to be standing in the right place.
I have shot weddings across Cambridgeshire for fifteen years. Longstowe Hall is one of the venues I still look forward to every single time.

The Walk to the Ceremony
From the cottage, across the grounds, to either the stunning interior of the Rose Ball Room or the lakeside pavilion for couples marrying outdoors. It is unrushed and it is genuinely beautiful, and it usually gives me the most honest images of the whole morning.
The Lake and its Swans
The pavilion island sits right on the water, and the resident swans have a habit of turning up in exactly the right shot. Couples who marry here get a ceremony backdrop that changes with the light hour to hour, and evening portraits that no marquee can compete with.
The Rose Gardens
The ancient rose gardens give some of the best views on the whole estate, especially in full bloom through spring and summer. Add the tree-lined avenue and a marquee with a soaring canvas roof that never feels like a corporate tent, and every corner earns its place in the gallery.
The Evening Mist
More than once I have watched mist roll in over the lawns as the sun goes down, turning the whole place into something closer to a film set. You cannot plan for it. You can only be ready.

Yes, both are part of the venue and I've shot weddings using each. If you're undecided, I'm happy to talk through how the light and layout differ between the two before you book your ceremony space with Longstowe.
Does knowing the venue this well actually make a difference?
It saves time on the day. I already know where the light falls at different hours, which corners of the rose gardens and avenue work best, and how the walk from the cottage to the ceremony plays out. That's less time spent figuring things out and more time spent photographing you.
The Unscripted or Classic Coverage, which suits a marquee reception?
Both work well at Longstowe. The Unscripted keeps documentary photography at the centre, with a short window of natural couple portraits and no scheduled group shots. Classic Coverage adds a longer, scheduled portrait session and family groups into the same documentary approach. Neither turns your reception into a photoshoot.
Do you charge overtime if the party runs on?
No. Full day coverage means exactly that, from the morning through to close to the last dance, with no overtime charges for Longstowe Hall weddings.
