Trinity Hall sits directly on the River Cam, one of the few colleges where the river genuinely shapes the day rather than just framing it. Ceremonies happen in the Graham Storey Room overlooking Latham Lawn, or the smaller Leslie Stephen Room, with riverside grounds for drinks straight after and a medieval dining hall, high vaulted ceiling, full portrait collection, for the reception.
When A and J married here, A's family were Spanish speaking, South American. I'm fluent in Spanish myself, so I could talk to them directly through the morning rather than working around a language gap. It changed how the whole getting-ready hour felt, less performance, more actual conversation.
After the ceremony, the three of us took a private punt tour along the Cam, King's, St John's, the Bridge of Sighs, all drifting past while A and J sat close and mostly forgot I was there with a camera. That's exactly what I want from that part of a day. The reception ran long, in the best way, and I stayed until the dancing actually stopped rather than packing up early.
